NBA Opening Night 2019: Lakers vs

Lakers suffer major blow ahead of NBA opener

Michael Jordan says Stephen Curry isn't a Hall of Famer yet

Leonard began a new career chapter Tuesday night, scoring 30 points to go with a strong bench effort in a 112-102 victory over LeBron James and the Lakers in the teams' season opener.

With the Lakers kicking off their season in just over 24 hours or so, the sooner they can all get on the same page, the higher the likelihood becomes that James and his teammates can lift the Lakers organization to the place its fan base demands it consistently remains.

Of course, it should be noted that this was Howard's first game back since undergoing back surgery last season, the second such procedure he has undergone during his National Basketball Association career. Since winning his second title with the Toronto Raptors previous year, Leonard has forced himself into the "league's best player" conversation, and it's one that he certainly belongs in.

Leonard also had six rebounds and five assists, reserve guard Lou Williams finished with 21 points and power forward Montrezl Harrell tallied 17 points and seven rebounds.

"Obviously [injured] Kyle Kuzma would help".

The Clippers outscored the Lakers 40-29 in the second quarter, buoyed by 16 points from Leonard. With Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard departing to the LA Clippers, an opportunity has emerged for Siakam to take the next step and expand his game.

LeBron James is one of the NBA's biggest superstars, so he's enjoyed the benefit of playing in front of a national audience on primetime to begin the season.

Before the game, Gentry said losing a star player doesn't always hurt a team's fortunes. Nurse has said he wants to get the rotation up to nine and even 10 at times, with Chris Boucher, Stanley Johnson, Matt Thomas, Malcolm Miller and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (who is now injured) all potentially factoring in, depending on the situations.

Clippers assistant coach Tyronn Lue, who used to coach LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers, walked away from an offer to coach the Lakers this summer.

He had to raise his usually low voice to be heard over the din, a mix of cheers from Clippers fans and boos from Lakers fans.

They raised championship banners immediately after their parades in 1992 and '93, presented rings to players the following opening day, and then didn't reach the post-season again until 2015 and '16, losing twice in the American League Championship Series.

Let's be clear, the Lakers and Clippers are far from being the only loaded rosters in the National Basketball Association. "I know I have more to prove to myself". "I don't know. I don't know".

"I think it's important for us to stand for free speech alongside the people of Hong Kong and to stand against foreign attempts at forcing us into self-censorship", he said.

Davis said his chat was what you'd probably expect: "He don't talk much, so ..."

"They're going to continue to grow", said Lowry.

So get ready Clipper Nation, and keep an eye out for these few things as you're watching tonight's marquee event. Overall, the Clippers outshot the Lakers 51.9 percent to 43.5 percent.
