Manchester United transfer in jeopardy

Sporting Lisbon boss Silas has admitted that he does not know if Bruno Fernandes has played his last game for the club amid reports he is closing in on a move to Manchester United.

Premier League club Manchester United are losing their grip on the transfer of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly according to the latest reports emanating from the media in Italy.

'There is a lot of talk about him leaving, ' he told Portuguese newspaper A Bola. So much so that they have made a massive bid of £25 million for him, if reports from Daily Mail are to be believed. We don't feel it. So far we don't know, nor does Bruno know. He is competitive and involved'.

Manchester United want to make a breakthrough in negotiations and move closer to what Sporting Lisbon are demanding before they agree to sell Fernandes.

The Portuguese midfielder has been embroiled in a transfer saga this January window that has been going on for too long for anyone's liking. For now, Sporting's demands of a €65 million payment seem to have been deemed as unrealistic.

One included him winning a World or Uefa Player of the Year award, which is viewed as effectively worthless by Sporting's hierarchy.

It was previously suggested that Fernandes - who has contributed 15 goals and 10 assists this season - could have been in the stands for Manchester United's trip to face Liverpool at Anfield this afternoon, though that now seems highly unlikely.

He is, however, thought to be willing to sanction a move should that figure increase by €10m.

Among those suffering from "raids" of players of Manchester United, the Frenchman Paul Pogba, who had a streak of injuries, the English midfielder Jesse Lingard, England defender Luke Shaw and unexpectedly, even the best scorer Marcus Rashford.
